To Fall In Love
- Victor Leon

Are we misinterpreting the phrase "to fall in love"? Are we celebrating Valentine's Day knowing the actual reasons of celebration or are we just looking for more fun? Let's find out what, if not all, what most of us are actually looking for as youths and why we often tend to fall in a bottomless pit rather than in love.

First, why do we use the term 'fall' when we say 'to fall in love'? Why not to 'rise' in love? This is because we lose control of our lives and we simply 'fall' for someone we love. You loved your parents since the time you were born or maybe earlier, but when you start loving someone when you're young it's probably because you naturally wanted to explore new worlds and experience new feelings. That's just beautiful but could be a 'fatal error' in your life as it has been in most other lives, which has caused them to commit suicide or become mentally ill for the rest of their lives. Sad, but the fun part is that of knowing more about the person you think you love and going around together on a date is the only thing you ever want to think of.

Devita, a twelfth grade student at the MIS school speaks of teenage love saying "I guess that's the first step to romance and an overwhelming feeling that discovers that there are still many different definitions of love!" Of course there are numerous definitions of an apple too. It could mean Adam's apple or maybe just a fruit, and it could mean anything worse to those who are twisted. Lets avoid defining love right now, its impossible, but what I said earlier goes hand in hand with what Devita just said - teenagers fall in love intentionally, that is they don't actually fall in love but pretend to, and this is because of their natural instinct to 'discover' new things as they grow.

So, if you're a teenager and think you're madly in love with someone, don't curse me but try your best not to 'fall in a pit' and not to risk your life and your parents' hopes and dreams. I had been in love 'several' times before and now I find it very funny when I think about it. And of course, I've learnt that love is a sweet, sweet misery, and teenage love is simply 'dangerous' and will often drive you out of your mind. Beware!

And remember that every adult has been through your age and they can understand what and how you feel about something, so always listen to them.

'Always remember to respect and honor your mother'.
